We've started sowing seeds indoors since the weather outside is not conducive to gardening at the moment. This is foreign territory for me, but I'm learning. With the help of greener thumbs than I. "Katie, my seeds sprouted, NOW WHAT DO I DO?!?!" (Transplant the sprouts to bigger pots, in case you're as clueless as me.)
The girls are getting their own patch of dirt in our secret garden, (I'm not even joking, my childhood fantasies are coming true) and picked out their own seeds to start. Eloise picked carrots and Claudia picked poppies. Claudia wants to be able to bake with the seeds. Eloise likes to keep baby carrots as pets. So, yeah.

It's about time you had a new post. Hope your plants grow big and strong. We planted carrots once but they didn't grow. Maybe I planted them upside down lol. Xo

Hi chicky! There are tons of entries! You just have to click on "the canning table" link under "Mud & Orchard". I've fixed it so that shows up first, instead of the page with just a couple pictures. It's was driving me bonkers.

Hint (learned after much disappointment) - soil preparation is everything. Dig, dig, and dig some more and then amend the soil and compost, compost, compost. Weed, thin out plants, weed, weed, weed. Then you will enjoy the bounty!

Did I tell you Aaron is a junior composter? If it turns to humus instead of a maggot hotel, I'll be on my way to a to good start.

I was able to rake yesterday, there are so many rocks in the soil! Raised or Container gardening might just have to be the solution. Surely I can find straw in these parts...

Are you doing herbs? That huge kitchen window is screaming for an indoor herb garden!

Honestly, I couldn't reach them! It's the deepest counter ever. I do have the seeds up there, but I can just yank on the trays to water them. hmmmm, herbs on trays? With wheels, pulleys, levers. Can you come and make it look pretty? Please?
